Project Overview
Film Moods is the photography practice of Lexey Nekich, whose work moves across weddings, couples, editorial, boudoir, and maternity through a film-grained, emotionally direct point of view.
The brand had outgrown a previous identity that no longer reflected the world surrounding the photography. The new system needed to hold romance and irreverence in the same frame: ceremonial without becoming precious, nostalgic without becoming generic, and intimate without relying on the neutral minimalism common throughout wedding photography.
The Challenge
Wedding photography branding frequently relies on soft serif typography, beige palettes, delicate scripts, and generalized ideas of luxury. That visual language did not reflect Lexey’s more complex body of work: emotionally raw, cinematic, tattoo-informed, romantic, and occasionally strange.
Film Moods needed an identity with enough refinement to support weddings and editorial work, but enough character to represent the distortion, grain, intimacy, and subtle irreverence visible in the photography.
The Insight
Lexey’s photography treats documentation as both keepsake and memori: proof that a person loved, lived, changed, and was present.
This made the idea of the keepsake central to the Film Moods identity. Wedding photographs already become inherited objects, so the brand surrounding them should feel capable of carrying the same feeling of nostalgia. Tattoo flash, devotional ornament, chapel romance, old-world typography, cinematic image-making, and film imperfection provided a visual language for that permanence.

The Identity System
A dual-logotype structure gives Film Moods a flexible hierarchy across editorial, digital, social, and physical applications.
The system combines:
- Gothic typographic forms.
- Tattoo-inspired linework.
- Custom cherub, star, and ornamental iconography.
- A restrained palette of oxblood, linen, pewter, and cream.
- Film grain, halation, imperfection, and image distortion.
- Romantic editorial composition.
- Functional typography for client-facing information.
The result can move between quiet, ceremonial applications and more expressive or experimental moments without losing cohesion.

Film Moods Launch Pop-Up
2025
The resulting identity positions Film Moods as a curator of moments and memory, presenting wedding photography as a ritualistic, cinematic craft that reveres tradition while intentionally reshaping it. The July pop-up launch featured a tattoo artist and a custom flash sheet built from the brand system: cherub iconography, stars, and an outline version of the logo offered freely.
The work ultimately moved from design to permanence, with a client choosing to have the Film Moods logo tattooed, a rare and telling indicator of the emotional resonance and cultural pull of the identity.

Film Moods Bridal Festival Activation
2026
Film Moods was featured at the 2026 Spokane Bridal Festival, where the visual system was translated into a physical booth experience designed to capture the attention of couples looking for wedding photography that felt more cinematic, editorial, and unconventional than the traditional bridal aesthetic.
I designed the event banner, bridal guide, rate cards, business cards, and supporting print collateral, while also helping concept and build the activation itself. Drawing from the brand's themes of romance, ritual, nostalgia, and heirloom imagery, the booth incorporated antique-inspired candelabras, lace, devotional references, suspended prints, and curated styling to create an environment that reflected the emotional tone of the photography.
As part of the activation, every couple who stopped by the booth was invited to pose for a Polaroid portrait, creating an immediate keepsake while automatically entering them to win a complimentary engagement session.
The activation was designed to invite conversation as much as it showcased services. From the printed collateral to the physical props, all aspects of the booth infrastructure worked together to reinforce the identity and immerse prospective clients in the atmosphere surrounding the Film Moods brand.
